I am a Landscape and Astrophotographer based in beautiful Perthshire, Scotland. My main areas of shooting interest are landscape and astrophotography along with some wedding work which I used to do in higher volume (I am more selective about this work due to time constraints). I also work closely with Getty Images, providing commercial and editorial photography for clients around the world. My pictures are often featured in books, magazines, newspapers and online articles.

I believe we are living in unprecedented times. Every day we are bombarded with a constant, neverending stream of pictures and posts from a wide range of sources that it simply becomes a background noise; unrelatable and unprocessable to us. I believe the value of the still image is being seriously eroded, however, I still strongly believe in it’s emotive power and purpose.

With the advent of Artificial Intelligence, artists are literally constructing images from typing what they want in a text box. I vehemently reject this practice. We are living in times where big business’ and social media companies consider artists as mere ‘content’ creators. I do not create content, I create pictures. Because of all of this, we are now in a time where we need to question reality as we see it…

In contrast, I am a considerate shooter: I do not strip parts of images taken at different times and places and use them together, and I certainly do not use AI. It is my opinion that nearly everything, and every genre of this craft has been done to death. I walk past pictures all the time in my travels as a landscape / astro photographer, simply because the scene lacks inspirational intention.  When crafting a picture I think of the Stanley Kubrick quote - I never know what I want half the time; but I do know what I don’t want.
